You would not believe what drama making such a decision is.My SIL was upset my brother would agree.Things like" well, now I see . You would just unplug me and walk away. Some husband you are" Everyone had an passionate opinion. Most were putting their self in that bed and acting like people were doing it to them.Hopes for a miricle.Lost hope.

I would want to be let go if I was not going to be able to live.I have a living will.
As many of you know. My sister had a heart attack last year. they did a catherazation to see how bad and she had a massive heart attack and was on life support.
I was not just that she was in coma, not breathing or her heart working on her own. Her kidneys finally shut down ( all this in like 36 hours.) I saw the signs of the kidneys sutting down. I knew she was gone by evening.Her husband decided...

its a tough thing to talk about and when it finally happens its even tougher but in that situation you cant be selfish and let that person suffer because you dont wanna lose them, its not fair for either person.

well...i've told people this many times before if i was in a horrible accident and the doctors said i would have to be kept on life support all my life i would tell them to pull the plug. i dont wanna be kept alive by machines all my life a few days maybe to stabalize my condition if i was to get better but other then that i wouldnt want to be a vegatable all my life laying in bed hooked up to machines. no point in that really

IThanks girls. I think the problem is, tho in all ways you are dead, your not. So you cant grieve for the person, like you would when you lose somebody.. I think at the end of the day, if it was me, I would want what ever made my family happy...

Corpsie I agree I don't think I would want to live like that either.

Rachael that is great that she recovered, it is so sad about her husband.

There is a boy here Josh who use to live next door, and I see him often at the store, he had an accident and went into a coma, and the doctors said he would never wake up or be normal again, but his mother refused to let him...

I don't know what I would want ... I guess I would want what was easiest for my family. If it was too much of a financial strain or they couldn't bear seeing me in that condition, I'd want them to unplug me. When I was about 11, the woman across the street was in a car accident and she was in a coma for 3 years or so. Her family chose to keep her plugged in. Her husband, however, couldn't deal with the sadness of having lost his wife...

It was a long time ago now, but at the time it was terrible.. My poor auntie had lost her daughter two years before, then this... Some people are dealt a rough hand in life I think

Its a hard one IMO... I always think the day they turned off the machine would be the day I woke up.. My cousin was on life support after a car wreak.. they turned the support off, after 2 days and he breathed by himself... He lived in a vegetated state for 4 years and died.. It was hard on the family.

A friend of mine is struggling with a dilemma. Her mother suffered a major stroke about two months ago. She is being kept alive solely on life support. The Doctors have told her that it would only be by a miracle that her mother would ever regain consciousness , and if she did she would be severely brain damaged beyond repair.
