Ben, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

More like Hawaii. Yes, this week's Lost offering, There's No Place Like Home, finally showed the Oceanic 6 returning to the real world. But larger questions remain: namely, with the 6 split up between C4-rigged freighter, Orchid station, the middle of the jungle, and imprisoned by the Others, how the hell do they all manage to get off the island? Bear with me on this recap; it won't be linear, but instead I'll bounce in and out of order to keep things simpler...

The show started with the six in the back of a Coast Guard flight, accompanied by an Oceanic rep named Ms. Decker. One of the co-pilots is paranoid about the plane's cargo -- the survivors are cursed, it seems. The plane lands at an old military base on the outskirts of Honolulu, where the castaways are greeted by their families; well, except for Sayid, Kate, and Aaron. Later, we see them at a press conference where we learn the story they are feeding the press. In a nutshell: the plane crashed, the currents took them to an island called Membata. After 103 days a typhoon washed a fishing boat ashore. They sailed that boat to another island called Sumba. From there they are rescued by villagers. They have pictures to prove it and everything. Big Question #1 -- They say that eight people survived the crash; two died on the island. Who are the other two? The reporters ask them a variety of questions, from why do they look so healthy, to one nosy reporter asking Kate about the baby. Sun says Jin died in the crash, and Sayid tells another reporter there is no chance of more survivors. Afterwards, he goes outside to find Nadia waiting for him. Awwww shucks.

But how do we get to this point? Let's go back to the beach, where Faraday calls the tracker that Lapidus threw out of the chopper at the end of last episode. They hear the voices of the soldiers, but no Sayid or Desmond. They also hear that the soldiers are headed for the Orchid. Jack and Kate head off to find them. Faraday knows that the soldiers heading to the Orchid means the secondary protocol has been initiated. "We have to get off this island right now," he tells Charlotte. A heavily bleeding Jack and Kate stumble across Miles, Aaron, and Sawyer in the jungle. Sawyer fills them in on what happened at Others-ville. Jack wants to continue on, and Sawyer goes with him. Sayid, meanwhile, has gotten back to the beach and tells Juliet and the others that the men on the chopper are bad news bears. After Kate comes back to the beach and tells them that Jack and Sawyer went ahead, Sayid and Kate head into the jungle to find Kate and Jack while Faraday volunteers to ferry people to the freighter.

Meanwhile, Ben, Locke, and Hurley are going to the Orchid, which Ben describes as a greenhouse. Ben says moving the island is dangerous and unpredictable, and the last resort. He uncovers a buried suitcase. Instead there are some old crackers, which Hurley is more than happy to eat, and a mirror, which Ben uses to communicate with some people hiding up in the hills. Later, they get up to the Orchid only to find Keamy and his cronies are already staking the place out. How? Ben says Widmore knows about the Orchid.

A flash forward shows Sun confronting her father. She tells him she knows he hated Jin, and says he is one of two men responsible for her husband's death. She then says she got quite a nice settlement from Oceanic and bought a controlling interest in his company. She's in charge now. This scene was kind of cheesy, but whatever. The next flash forward has Hurley coming back to his parent's new mansion. He finds a coconut in the front hall, and, fearing a burglar, grabs a Jesus statuette for protection. It's actually a surprise birthday party, leading to his mom to chide him: "Jesus Christ is not a weapon." Hurley's dad (hey Cheech is back!) gives him a present: the car that he always promised to fix up is actually fixed. But when Hurley gets behind the wheel, he sees that the speedometer reads 4815162342. He freaks out and runs off.

Back on the freighter, Desmond greets the first castaways, who include Aaron, Sun, and Jin. They are all shocked to see Michael standing on deck. He says the engine is fixed, so they can move towards the island, but it seems something is blocking the sonar, so the captain won't be able to tell where the reefs are. Later, after Michael has told his story to Sun and Jin, Desmond calls him and shows him the C4 in the radio room. On the island, Sawyer and Jack get to the chopper and meet up with Lapidus. Lapidus wants to leave, but Sawyer says Hurley is with Ben and Locke.

Another flashback. Jack is giving the eulogy at his dad's funeral. Afterwards, Claire's mom pulls Jack aside and introduces herself. She tells him that his dad was in Australia to see her, and then blows Jack away by revealing Claire is his sister. As she leaves, she sees Aaron with Kate, unaware it is her grandson.

As they track Jack and Sawyer, Kate and Sayid are surrounded by Richard Alpert and the Others and are taken prisoner. And up at the Orchid, Ben explains to Locke how to navigate through the greenhouse, find the elevator, and take it to the real Orchid station. Locke asks how he'll get past the armed guards. Ben tells him he has a plan, and then walks, unarmed, right up to Keamy and surrenders.
